Why Church Membership?

At Summit, we believe that becoming a member of a local Church is an important step for every intentional follower of Jesus Christ. Click on the button below to listen to a podcast all about Church membership and what it means to belong to a local Church.

Discover Church Membership (BaseCamp)

In mountain climbing, a base camp is the first place a climber sets up before summiting a mountain. It's a place to begin your journey and set out from. At Summit, our BaseCamp is the first step to beginning your journey with our Church family. BaseCamp is a course for you to discover what Church membership is all about and provides you with all the information you need to know before deciding to become a member of Summit Community Church. Discover our mission, vision, values & so much more!

Steps to Membership at Summit CC

The process to becoming a member at Summit Community Church has a few different steps. Check out each of the steps below!

STEP 1: EXPLORATION

During this exploration phase, you can learn more about what it means to become a participating member at Summit CC by attending one of our BaseCamp courses. Our BaseCamp courses include biblical principles of why we become members of a local Church, the responsibilities and privileges of membership as well as our Summit Community Church distinctions.

STEP 2: AFFIRMATION

During the affirmation phase, you can respond personally to the information you have received at the BaseCamp course by completing our Online Membership Covenant Form (linked below) and affirming your intentions about joining Summit Community Church.

STEP 3: CONFIRMATION

Once you've reached the confirmation phase, you will be sent an email to book a meeting with two members of our Elders board at Summit. Church membership is about family; we want to get know you more and hear your story. This meeting is an opportunity for you to learn more about us and to ask any outstanding questions you may have. After this meeting, a recommendation is made to the rest of the Elders board to receive the prospective member as a participating member of Summit Community Church.

STEP 4: CELEBRATION

WELCOME! The celebration phase is when you receive a letter confirming your reception into participating membership from our Board of Elders. We then publicly celebrate you as our new member by announcing it to the Church. Throughout the year, we designate various times to celebrate our new members publicly at one of our special events (e.g. Baptism, Celebrate, Annual Members Meeting, etc.). We also encourage our LifeGroups to celebrate all of our new members in their LifeGroup gatherings.
